With some perfect road trip music in the satellite radio (what is that really?) we burned down highway 5 to get to southern Cali and Encinitas. The scenery was very exotic for our unused eyes. We know there is the 1 at the coast but the 1 would´nt take as to San Diego as fast. And San Diego means close to Encinitas which means Bing Surfboards which is our board sponsor to which we where invited to stay with over new year.

Mega trucks, burned wheels, road kills, burgers and Johnny Cash and california dreaming thats what this day was about.

Att köra in i San Fransisco var en helt totalgalen upplevelse. Ända sedan jag sÃ¥g filmen Den lÃ¥nga vandringen har jag velat Ã¥ka till staden med den röda bron. Att nu, 21 Ã¥r gammal köra in i San Fransisco utan att riktigt veta vad det är för place var helt insane. Jag körde en bra bit och vägarna började gÃ¥ upp och ner i 45 graders vinklar och i just en sÃ¥n backe blev det rött. När det slog till grönt började jag köra o linn frÃ¥gade, vem har företräde nu? Ehh jag? Han kommer korsa min körbana… Jaha, men alltsÃ¥ har du företräde för den där?? SÃ¥ stod där en en fet spÃ¥rvagn mitt i vägen.. Hmmmm..

Vi körde och körde och vi skulle hämta upp nÃ¥gra grejjer frÃ¥n en sponsor men paketet hade inte hunnit komma sÃ¥ vi parkerade vÃ¥r fina bil pÃ¥ en lugn gata som ej lutade för att sova. Enda problemet var att grejjerna vi skulle plcoka upp vÃ¥r sovsäckar och campingutrustning och att sova utan dem kände vi ju av sÃ¥ innan solen var vi uppe och köpte bagels för att börja äventyrsdag nummer 1 i californien. 10 minuter efter vi fÃ¥tt i oss vÃ¥ra bagels och vi skruvat pÃ¥ en satellitkanel med svensk housemusik sÃ¥g i nÃ¥t rött pÃ¥ vägen framför oss. Nää de kan inte vara…

Golden Gate Bridge.

Gatorna som gick upp och ner och spårvagnarna jag glömt fanns de var galet häftiga. Men att bränna över bron och pumpa musiken på max var fräckare än i i barnfilmen.

So we waited for a little while and where joking with the guys driving the cars up front so we actually think they upgraded us cuz this car is just the killer car! On our way to california and the pilot was already just as mellow as we expected Californians to be. He enjoyed the light at sunrise quite alot and wanted to share it when we where getting closer to San Fransisco. He asked for extra flight space to take the passangers on a guided tour over Nevada. It was soo cool, this photo is actually not that telling cuz we where to amazed to bring out the camera when he turned the plane 45 degrees back and forth to let us see the view of Sierra Nevada, Walker Lake and Yosemite. From the air! In the sunrise!

Some Torekov-people living in New York most of the time invited us for christmas coffe at their place. Julia, another friend from Torekov was also there. We baked Swedish pepparkakor, drank Swedish glögg, black coffe, ate American delivery pizza twice, overlooked central park and discussed photography. Some traditional but still americanised christmas disorder turned out to be one of the highlights of our christmas in New york. We had so much fun, thank you for the christmas spirit!

We have had an awesome time in this city. It’s the first time we visit the states and we have constantly been in chock of how real everything is. The skysrapers, the statue of libety, brooklyn, the brewery, the sreets and avanues, central park, the christmas feeling, the crazy people in the subway, the smoke coming out of the street and the new yorkers accent. Everything which we have been fed with from all the american movies are for real and ten times more than that. It’s greater than any other city we have been and we´ve been to a lot of them. Until further stuff is coming up here we would like to whish all of you a happy new year! We are currently at our boardsponsor Bing in Encinitas, California. We have been surfing all days long and hanging out at the factory. We are going to celebrate tonight at John Wegners house and the last few days has been all about the guys at Bing discussing which beer to get. But it’s understandable cuz they just don’t buy a case or two but a whole cag (fat) of beer!! + red party cups. Did you read it, RED PARTY CUPS.
