The building features rooms arranged around a central courtyard, each with its own unique character and all with private en-suite bathrooms. In our lush garden, we also offer four bungalows with private en-suite bathrooms. All the rooms roam in Sunshine Stories style which combines authentic Sri Lankan heritage with thoughtful modern touches to create an unforgettable stay. The Honeymoon Jungalow
The Honeymoon Jungalow is our most romantic and beloved room — a true honeymoon hideaway. Set as a private standalone bungalow in the garden, it offers seclusion, tranquillity, and an intimate connection with nature.
The room features a spacious outdoor en-suite bathroom, designed for slow mornings and candle-lit evenings under the open sky. A small front porch invites you to sit back, unwind, and soak in the sounds of the jungle — birdsong by day and the gentle hum of nature at night.
Perfect for couples, honeymooners, or anyone seeking privacy and romance, The Honeymoon Jungalow is a peaceful sanctuary where time slows down and every detail is designed for togetherness.
Lazy Left – Single
This cosy single room is perfect for the solo traveller and is located in the same historic walawwa building, sharing the same timeless character and style as the Sunshine Shoebox. Designed for one, the room offers a peaceful and private retreat with a comfortable sleeping space and a private outdoor en-suite bathroom. Simple, charming, and full of atmosphere, it’s ideal for guests who want their own quiet space while still enjoying the unique heritage and natural surroundings of Sunshine Stories.
Sunshine – Shoebox
The Sunshine Shoebox is our smallest and cosiest room, nestled within the original 100-year-old walawwa building and full of character. While the indoor space is intentionally compact, it offers a warm, intimate retreat that reflects the heritage of the house and the simplicity of slow living.
What truly sets this room apart is the large, airy private outdoor en-suite bathroom. Surrounded by palms and open to the sky, it invites you to shower with nature — often accompanied by the sight of monkeys swinging between the trees and the sounds of the garden around you. Beds can be arranged either as twin singles or as a comfortable king-size double, making it ideal for solo travellers, close friends, or couples who value charm, history, and a unique experience over excess space.
Frangi Pani – Female Dorm
This dorm room is for women only, has four beds and a maximum occupancy of 4 people. The bathroom is ensuite and beautifully set outdoors with a private courtyard and a double shower.
Kithul – Male Dorm
The Kithul is our male dormitory room. While the photos show it set up as a double, the room is typically arranged as a dorm with four separate single beds, offering a comfortable and social shared stay.
Newly renovated and located in the old part of the building, The Kithul retains its original charm and authentic character, with traditional details that reflect the spirit of the property. At the same time, the renovation ensures a fresh, clean, and comfortable environment, making it a relaxed place to unwind after a day of surf, yoga, or exploring the area.
Ideal for solo travelers or friends, The Kithul combines character, comfort, and a laid-back communal atmosphere.
