In April, the Sunshinestories family closed the retreat for a week and road tripped about four hours to Banyan Camp, a bush camp and retreat tucked away in the jungle right next to Udawalawe National Park and the beautiful lake Hambegamuwa.
As soon as we arrived and dropped off our bags, we took off on an adventure on the lake. We untied a raft from the dock and had an amazing time floating on the magical lake in the middle of the Sri Lankan jungle on a raft equipped with nothing but a couple of fishing rods and bottles of Prosecco.
Our inland adventure was like a dream with an afternoon of fishing and swimming, dinner on a raft in the middle of the lake under a starry sky, sleeping in open-air bungalows, a morning bird safari, and a trip to hidden waterfalls that ended with traditional meal served on banana leaf plates.
We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful weekend in Sri Lanka!
