Kämpa Malmö

The past two weeks in Malmö have been very intriguing. You can read about it in the press yes and we usually don’t write about the social debate on this blog but in this occasion we live in the middle of it and it is really hard not to get involved.

Exactly two weeks ago, on the night of the international womens day a demonstration was held in the middle of the night where women together walked the streets of Malmö to reclaim the night in “Ta tillbaka natten demonstration“. Shortly after the demo some of the people got attacked by nazis on Möllevången, on the street just in the next corner of where we live. The nazis drew knifes and stabbed the others fatally. One of the guys are still in the hospital with his life threatened.

The day after about 2000 people gathered on the square down our street, Möllevångstorget in a spontaneous demonstration to the rasism and nazist violence.

During that week we saw how bad work by the police and the media fucked up the whole picture of what happened. Read more of that here. The debate in main stream media has been terribly out of focus the past two weeks. Instead of targeting the real problem, the nazi political wave coming trough Europe, it has been about left and right extremists violence abuse even tough the ones getting attacked were not left extremists.. Even if they would be, let’s look at the two sides and what they stand for before we condemn them both as two hooligan gangs that just wants to fight on the streets.

The nazis that did this are political active in Sweden in new upcoming nazi party that seems to get some support in the election this autumn. Their two top election questions are:

1. “Sweden is and should forever be Swedish: Only Swedish humans that belong to the genetic Swedish and Cultural heritage of ethnical Swedes should be Swedish citizens.”
2. “Sweden should be ruled by the Swedes: Non swedes should not be allowed power positions within the Swedish society”

The “left extrimists” like, the Anti Facist movement AFA, stand for:

“We work for every humans equal right and work against rasism, sexism and homofobia”

Still, they are pretty much being portrayed in media as two extremists sides just fighting because they think it’s fun. I think that’s super wrong. With that said we don’t support violence of any kind and are not active in any of these parties but I think it is terribly wrong to draw both of these movements over one line. Standing up for peoples equal right is something every one should be able to do but instead iv’e understood that many stay quiet just because there is a extreme side on both the right and the left. That’s also wrong. Everyone should be able to stand up against rasism and fascism in any way they can.

Last sunday a massive peaceful demonstration was held in Malmö where something like 13.000 people together gathered and walked the streets of Malmö against fascism and rasism. It was for everyone by everyone. We were among those of course and it was a truly amazing experience. Kids, Parents, Youths, Families, Long, Short everyone walked for every humans equal value. I’ve never in my whole life had such a big fate on human and the society before. Amazing. Together we did a better job than the media drawing the line for what’s right and what’s wrong. We shared the day with the power of the media in our own hands on #kämpamalmö.

Below follows a few pictures from the demonstration in Malmö. They said it was the biggest one in Sweden during the last 50yrs+ years. Some images look pretty fierce but this day was all about keeping the city and the society together as one, it was really awesome.

The demonstration went on the whole day and evening. When the sun set some great artists took place on the stage on möllevångstorget including Timbuktu, Partiet, Carlito, Loop Troop, Ayla Shatz, Gnucci, Ozzy och Piraterna, Kapten Röd med flera. Many wise words were spoken and the song texts got a whole new context on this day.
